What type of pilates do you teach?
At emerge pilates, we teach Contemporary Pilates using Balanced Body equipment. Contemporary Pilates combines traditional foundations with a modern, thoughtful approach that supports strength, mobility, and long-term function. What’s the difference between Contemporary and Classical Pilates?
Classical Pilates stays close to the original exercises and sequencing developed by Joseph Pilates, with a consistent structure that many people love for its discipline and flow.Contemporary Pilates builds on those same foundations but incorporates modern knowledge of anatomy and movement. This approach allows for more adaptability and variety - we’re not doing the exact same sequence every week, which keeps classes fresh and responsive to how your body feels that day. It also means that we will vary the movements we learn throughout the months we work together rather than sticking to the same flow each time.
